At this point (4/3/95) textfiles on the gopher are accessible via the www and we can see gopher usage has jumped 47% in the most recent two weeks for which gopher statistics are available. Per day, usage has increased from 9/day at initialization in Nov. 1993 to 44/day by March 31, 1995. Of course, since discrete web site access statistics are not yet obtainable on the UCSC system, actual www usage is hypothetical but the browser interface seems at least to have led to a measurable increase in accesses to the information on the gopher.
